THE CRUNCH
Sega has laid out Year 2 plans for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, with six paid crossover packs and regular free content starting on 3 November. The season opens with a Godzilla pack featuring a track where Godzilla attacks the City Escape level from Sonic Adventure 2, plus vehicles themed on Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah. Later packs include a Virtual Sanrio Puroland pack with Hello Kitty and Kuromi as playable racers, a Segaland pack built around classic Sega arcade games, a Midgar pack drawing on the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series, and a Reload Revival Royal pack based on the Persona games. Details for the Final Fantasy and Persona packs are still to be confirmed.
Free content runs alongside the paid packs. Bayonetta joins on 3 November as the first free Year 2 character, unlockable through a new Rival Duel mode, followed later in the month by McLaren Racing DLC adding an F1 car and a McLaren-suited Sonic. In early 2027, Aigis from Persona 3 Reload arrives with a car called the Palladion Dressy.
The paid DLC can be bought individually or via a $29.99 Season Pass, which grants Genesis, Saturn and Dreamcast controller decal packs now and console-themed vehicles when Year 2 launches. Players owning both season passes also get Super Shadow and his Super Dark Flare vehicle as a bonus.
Alongside the roadmap, Sega has announced a permanent price drop effective immediately: the Standard Edition falls from $70 to $40, and the Digital Deluxe Edition, which includes all Year 1 content, drops from $90 to $60.
