THE CRUNCH
Two unannounced PlayStation products have shown up in Wi-Fi Alliance certification documents, and The Verge reports that the listings suggest they could be updated versions of the PlayStation Portal, Sony's handheld for streaming games over Wi-Fi. The devices are classified as "Gaming Console/Peripherals" and carry the model numbers CFI-Y2000 and CFI-Y2105, a clear step up from the CFI-Y1001 model number of the Portal currently on sale.
The documents also state that the new models run on Android 15, which The Verge reads as a further sign that they may be Portal successors. Whether one of them gets the OLED screen rumoured earlier this year remains unconfirmed, and Sony has not announced anything. Certification listings often surface ahead of a launch, but they confirm only that the devices exist, not what they will cost or when they might arrive.
